RISE @ ESC Congress 2024

Join Women as One and the European Society of Cardiology in London on August 29 for RISE @ ESC Congress 2024. The event features an all-day conference at the ExCel Centre, followed by an evening reception open to all faculty and attendees.

RISE @ ESC Congress 2024 is a full-day program focused on bringing women in medicine together with the organizations that represent them for a dynamic day of professional development.

Women in medicine are too often underrepresented in leadership roles in both academic and clinical settings. Therefore for 2024, we are focusing on the topic of leadership, with the goal for attendees to gain insight into their personal leadership style, and to leave the conference positioned to take the next steps in their professional journey.

WOMEN AS ONE AND THE EUROPEAN SOCIETY OF CARDIOLOGY JOIN FORCES FOR RISE @ ESC CONGRESS 2024

Women as One is proud to announce a new strategic partnership with the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) to elevate women cardiologists’ professional development through the RISE @ ESC Congress 2024. A testament to the ESC’s clear commitment to increasing the representation of women in leadership positions within the organization and across its member bodies, RISE @ ESC Congress 2024 promises to chart a new path towards leadership development through expertise and innovation.

The underrepresentation of women in cardiology leadership positions underscores the urgent need for targeted support mechanisms both at the individual and systemic levels. Through this strategic alliance, Women as One and ESC aim to catalyze the ascension of European women cardiologists into leadership positions, dismantling barriers and fostering inclusivity.

Program Directors for RISE @ ESC Congress 2024 include Past President of ESC Professor Barbara Casadei, Dr. Roxana Mehran, and Dr. Azin Parhizgar. The program agenda is designed to empower attendees to “Lead by Design,” and is comprised of didactic sessions, workshops, and case-based discussions. Sessions will be led by prominent leaders in cardiology and business, including top professors from the Oxford University Said Business School. The aim is to equip women cardiologists with the requisite skills they need to establish their unique leadership paths.

RISE @ ESC Congress 2024 will take place on Thursday, August 29th at the ExCeL London, the day before the annual ESC Congress convenes at the same venue. The close collaboration with the ESC creates an unprecedented opportunity to bring together an international audience of women cardiologists to inspire professional growth.

“We are thrilled to partner closely with the European Society of Cardiology to expand our footprint in Europe. Together, we aim to nurture the leadership potential of women cardiologists in the region, fostering their growth and impact on a global scale.” – Roxana Mehran, MD, Founder and President of Women as One

“We are committed to increasing the representation of women in all positions across our organization and our member bodies. As a source of high-quality, evidence-based science that pushes the boundaries of cardiovascular medicine, it is vital that the ESC has greater representation of women in leadership positions. Partnering with Women as One to co-host RISE @ ESC Congress 2024 is one of the critical steps in our commitment to support and encourage women into leadership, aligning with the goals set out in our Gender Policy.” – Jean-François Riffaud, Chief Executive Officer of the European Society of Cardiology
