What is RISE?

RISE was developed to provide women across medical specialties a forum in which to grow professionally: gaining access to trainings, insights, and opportunities for their future success.

Join Program Directors Roxana Mehran, MD and Azin Parhizgar, PhD as we engage physicians and leadership across industries to create positive change for women in medicine.  Together, we RISE.

The Lancet Commission Educational Symposium

Day 1: February 17, 2023

During this one-day symposium, healthcare clinicians will explore strategies to tackle inequities in diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of heart disease in women; to advance innovative solutions for early detection and targeted management; to unravel the underlying biological mechanisms that contribute to sex-specific differences in outcomes, and to finally decrease the global CVD burden in women.

  • Review the global and regional epidemiology of CVD in women
  • Address sex- and gender-based disparities in treatment and diagnosis
  • Learn about well-established, sex-specific, and under-recognized risk factors of CVD in women
  • Recognize the most vulnerable populations and learn about the challenges they face
  • Discuss next steps in the agenda to improve outcomes and care for women with CVD
