Shelley Wood is a journalist and author, with a career in cardiology journalism spanning more than two decades. Currently the Editorial Director at the Cardiovascular Research Foundation (CRF) and the Editor-in-Chief of TCTMD.com, Shelley has previously served as Senior Director of Global News at Medscape and Managing Editor at theheart.org. She’s received the National Institute for Health Care Management’s excellence in print journalism prize, the Online News Award, a Canadian Online Publishing Awards, the Healthcare Publication Editors Award, and several Digital Health Awards. In 2022, Shelley was honored with the WomenHeart’s Wenger Award for Excellence in Media, recognizing her contributions as a champion of women’s voices in cardiovascular medicine.

In addition to her work in cardiology, Shelley is a bestselling novelist and essayist. Her latest novel, The Leap Year Gene of Kit McKinley, was published August 6, 2024 by HarperCollins Canada and Union Square Press (US).

Shelley did her undergraduate degree at McGill University and her graduate degree in journalism at the University of British Columbia, specializing in medical reporting. She is based in Kelowna, Canada.
